2026 GIA Summer Meeting

Donation in Honor of Shirley Burns and LRCT Presentation

GIA President, Jim MacBride, presented Lakes Region Conservation Trust Executive Director, Lindsay Rosa, Ph.D., with a $1500 donation in memory of Shirley Burns. Shirley was a life-long Welch Island resident, who passed away in 2017 at the age of 92. As the first GIA Secretary, she and the GIA Board coordinated with LRCT in 1991 to establish the Timber Island conservation easement.
