Gilford’s new fire boat is now ready to serve and protect the island homes. The boat is named “Lake Jake”, a term that comes from a twentieth century New England slang expression of praise for a firefighter. The boat is capable of pumping 1,500 gallons of water per minute. It has a GPS and SONAR unit on board.
